Welcome to Newcastle Police Aid To Romanian Children
We are a small charity based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Our aim is to relieve the pain and suffering of the children of Romania. We concentrate our efforts in the Brasov region of Transylvania.
The charity was founded by our Patron, Robbie Burn B.E.M, in 1990. Robbie was a serving Police Sergeant in the Newcastle City Division of Northumbria Police when he saw the distressing TV coverage of the plight of the Romanian orphans. He was so disturbed by this that he decided to take a van load of aid to Romania. The generosity of the people of the North East meant the one van turned into a convoy! We have continued the work started in 1990 as there is still a great need, especially in the current economic climate.
